Since our launch in 2008, Share the Road has coordinated events in partnership with stakeholders across Ontario. Our regional summits and community rides help to build capacity, relationships and support for cycling.
Share the Road's Regional Summits bring together City Councillors and employees, tourism professionals, police, cycling advocates. bicycle retailers, area businesses and community stakeholders to learn about:
- best practices
- inspiring success stories
- ongoing projects
- provincial initiatives
The objective of these summits is to help communities work towards a Bicycle-Friendly Community designation, or to move up to the next designation level. Recently, we've worked with partners in York Region, Quinte, Niagara, Peel Region and Kingston to host regional summits.
In addition to coordinating Greg's Ride each year, Share the Road staff have supported community-based rides coordinated by local partners. Past rides have included:
- Sudbury's Share the Road with an Olympian Ride
- Spin the Lakes Road Race
- Grey County Road Race
- Ottawa's Ride in Memory of Mario Theoret
- Andy Pott's Memorial Ride
- Bruce-Manitoulin Passage Ride
- Bike for Mike
- Lake of Bays Road Race
- OPP Pedal for the Past
- and more.
Share the Road is proud to support the work of local organizations as part of these community rides.
